The show is organised by Greg & Jo Dunningham, helped by their son Lee Cain.
Originally called the Wroughton Classic Car & Bike Show, the first show in 2006 at the old airfield of the Science Museum Wroughton attracted around 600 classic cars and bikes. This increased to more than 900 vehicles in 2007 with more than 6,000 visitors coming along to the show which was now attracting more unusual and rare cars, bikes and vehicles and provided an excellent venue for filming an episode of TV's popular 'Scrapheap Challenge'. By 2008, word had got out, the show was growing and had by now earnt its reputation as an amazing collection of cars, bikes and vehicles with enthusiasts meeting up from all over the country, and further! With more than 2,600 classic exhibits and over 26,000 visitors, this was becoming a national level event! The relaxed and informal atmosphere of the show along with the focus on keeping it as a value for money day out for all the family was proving a great hit! The 2008 show and its exhibits also featured in the new TV programme 'Classic Gear' with Chris Searle and proved an excellent resource for two other production company research teams looking for classic vehicles to feature in their TV programmes!
For 2009, the airfield was no longer able to offer its facilities for the show, a great disappointment as the only remaining museum hangar suitable for public access had become a firm favourite with visitors and the show had no choice but to seek alternative accomodation. As the show would no longer be in Wroughton it was at this point too that we felt the original name was no longer appropriate and therefore renamed it the Adrian Flux Classic Car & Bike Show.
The response from our previous visitors and exhibitors was overwhelming, messages of support and kind words flooded in with so many saying just how much they had enjoyed our shows and how sorry they were that this had happened to us. Many said they hoped this would not stop us from running the show again and wished us well in the task ahead to rebuild it. Then, on the day after the news had been made public, Beaulieu National Motor Museum came to our rescue and very kindly contacted us to invite us to take our show to them for 2009. Given the number of people that had taken the time to tell us how much the show had meant to them, even at such short notice how could we NOT give it a try? Although it was inevitable that the venue changes meant that many of our regulars could no longer attend, the show at Beaulieu was a remarkable success with fantastic weather and a top quality turnout with some excellent classics in attendance. Sadly however the show did not recover in time for 2010, as for the future? Well, only time will tell :)
